I Am the Eggman…

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King’s horses, And all the King’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again!

Why do we all have a collective mental image of old Humpty as an egg?

The nursery rhyme never even implies that he was an egg. In point of fact, it seems that Humpty was actually a cannon.

I blame Lewis Carroll for my confusion on the matter.

lol, I’ve never have expected it to be a cannon. I thought it’s just a joke when you write it’s a cannon even.
